In the early 1990’s, I studied clown with the legendary Philippe Gaulier, and I have been practicing clowning, as a teacher, director, and performer, ever since. Over time I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with clown luminaries, especially David Shiner (Cirque du Soleil, Fool Moon), and bring clowning to all kinds of exotic places, including Beijing, Vienna, Sao Paolo, and the Dancing With The Stars studio in LA! In 2009, with dear friend and colleague Orlando Pabotoy, I founded The Clown School in Los Angeles. The School, which offers classes in all levels of clowning, goes from strength to strength, and is partnered with the award-winning Four Clowns theatre company. It is a source of great joy, and I am always happy on Sunday evenings as The Clown School meets, in my favorite phrase,”to celebrate our flaws in public.”
